In General Aviation, we know that having a good air filter and proper air filter maintenance often gets overlooked in favor of other, more obvious maintenance items. However, using a dirty or malfunctioning filter can have serious repercussions, including increased cylinder wear. Tempest® Aeroguard Induction Air Filters are designed to filter out over 99% of all particles larger than 5 microns (contaminates of 10-20 microns are known to be responsible for the most damage). The screen design of these filters prevents fragmented media from being ingested, improving safety, complying with FAR23.1107(b). Also, the filter element in these air filters is made of synthetic fiber, no paper involved, so they are not subject to FAA Airworthiness Directive (AD 84-26-02). It is recommended to inspect your air filter regularly (During 100Hrs and annual inspections), preferably also during each pre-flight, if possible.
Tempest® Aeroguard Induction Air Filters are designed to be easy to service and inspect. These filters are fully cleanable, so they can be reused multiple times over, They DO NOT have a Shelf-Life limit and are NOT limited by (in service) calendar date. The filter’s greater media surface area provides maximum airflow allowing for longer service intervals. (Recommended replacement after 500Hrs of flight time or 5 cleanings) These filters do not require any oil to capture contaminants, do not apply oil to this filter, this will cause clogging.
